To protect your web server resources from unauthenticated access, after setting up your IIS to challange the browser using basic authentication, you need to setup directory permissions to grant access to some of your Windows accounts. For this purpose, you may want to create (or may already have) a certain Windows account. Once you have a Windows user account, you will need to setup directory and/or file permissions for the web site resources you wish to protect.
